SURFACE DESIGN PROJECT, NIFT'2017
MENTORED BY - SASMITA PANDA, TEXTILE DESIGN FACUTLY
Inspired by the Japanese Boro Textiles, this theme celebrates beauty in something frayed, decaying or repaired with lots of texture and patchworks.
To design a collection of cushions using surface design techniques with sensitivity towards Sustainability.
CONCEPT - BORO FOLK
INTENT

The Japanese BORO textiles are characterized by their patchwork design and visible mending techniques, which often use simple running stitches to hold the fabric pieces together.
The fabrics used in Boro textiles were typically cotton or hemp, and they were dyed with natural indigo to create a distinctive blue color.
Keeping these characteristics intact, this collection is designed majorly using
UPCYCLED JEANS PANTS,
JUTE YARN & FABRICS,
MUSLIN FABRIC &
BUTTONS for embellishment.
